Yoga Therapy is for you if:

  • You want to deepen your Yoga practice or want to start one.

  • You want to increase flexibility, reduce tension & pain, and have a more balanced life.

  • You are interested in personal growth, self-awareness, and spiritual development.

  • You want to feel better physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

  • You want to uncover limiting beliefs and energy blockages so you can move forward in your life in a more mindful way.

  • You want to learn how to "listen" and "hear" the answers from within.

Yoga Therapy is…

The integrative healing application of the principles and practices of Yoga, including Yoga postures, (assisted and/or independent) Yogic breathing, meditation, and energy work to balance the chakras.

Yoga Therapy works with the psychology of the body to identify and release stuck energy and trapped emotions. It works by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system to induce a sense of peace and calm. From this relaxed place, the body is better able to tap into its natural healing resources.

It has been practiced in India for thousands of years and is becoming more known in other parts of the world for its effectiveness on overall health and well-being.

A variety of conditions are being addressed with therapeutic Yoga such as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, stress related illnesses, and more. It can also be used to improve strength, balance, and flexibility of the physical body as well as the mind. Yoga Therapy is an incredible way to receive emotional support during times of difficulty.

What to expect in your yoga therapy sessions…

Therapeutic Yoga sessions are usually done on a Yoga mat or a traditional Thai Yoga Massage mat on the floor. I encourage the use of props, such as bolsters, pillows, blankets, and whatever else you have on hand to ensure your comfort. If I am working with you in person, I will bring everything you need.

Sessions are customized and can vary depending on ability and individual needs. It can be a more physical experience with hands-on assistance to attain deeper stretching, or completely touchless, making it a great option for virtual sessions. You do not need to have any previous Yoga experience and you do not have to be strong or flexible.

You will enjoy a full body stretch with the assistance of props and/or a wall and be guided to move in a slow, supportive way into areas that are normally tight and stiff. By holding the body in these positions for longer periods of time, combined with breathwork and meditative dialogue, tensions are released from the body and the mind. Yoga Therapy offers you similar benefits as a Yoga class, yet done in a more personal method so you can receive benefits more quickly in a way that is just right for you. If movement is difficult, there are options that don’t require stretching. You can remain in a comfortable, supportive position on your back, or whatever position is most comfortable for your body.
